the Revolution is long way off...

you know the revolution is a long way off when you encounter an experience such as mine last night.

one of the dudes i work with threw a party at his house. it was the usual EMS and fire shindig. a bunch of people i work with, a few Cleveland firefighters and medics, plus a bunch from various other companies and departments all standing around talking about work. why is it that when you get a group of people with the same common interests to have a good time, they always ruin things with talk about work? that's where the whole revolution thing comes in. see, K called me a couple nights before and invited me to the party along with about 30 people from Cleveland's south side whom i chill with on a pretty regular basis. anyways, we go out to Parma, racist capitol of the cleveland area, 30 muthafuckers deep. great idea. we get to the party and we enter into a sea of white people. not white people like you or i, but some REAL white people. we mingle for a minute and pretty much start our own thing so as not to make anyone too uncomfortable. me, big mark, chris, and jason are chillin on the deck, took over the stereo, and the host's girlfriend comes over. she starts talking to big mark and just happens to say some of the most shocking shit i've heard in years: "oh my, i've never, like, had a conversation with, like, somebody who was black before." ain't that some shit? i actually thought i heard the CD skip at that exact moment. whatever, just thought it was some funny shit.
