quote for the day...9/22/2005

"...And we shall be made truly wise if we be content; content, too,
not only with what we can understand, but content with what we do
not understand."
~Charles Kingsley, Health and Education On Bio-Geology~

so, i receive a daily quote emails to give me something profound to think about for the day. i now realize how much this sucks since i used to be able to come up with my own sayings off the top of my head, and currently find it hard to philosophize as i used to.

today's quote struck a chord with me this morning as i checked my mail during a quiet moment at work. fittingly enough, there are so many things i have yet to understand here that lately i find at least one instance per day that my work experience is befouled by some sort of confusion. where this really ties in is that such a quote promts me to simply find contentment in my position, regrdless of the unending clusters i encouner in my career. i had hoped that by posting this, maybe all of you may also find your path in cleansing your mind of things which do not matter, or are simply out of your control. thus, allowing more of us to just be happy with the current situation more than that which we cannot change or comprehend. not saying however, that we should give up on trying to learn new things, but continue to strive for the betterment of our society.

simply put into my own variation:

be happy where you are. work to improve upon your faults and deficiencies. make an impact when you can, but do not attempt the control of that which you cannot change.

it is entirely too early for any of this madness...

not that i've encountered any major debockels yet, but then again, i've got all day.

the main issue i'm sure is the fac that i was up late watching the premiers of "my name is earl" and "nip tuck". the latter which shows on FX, my haven for non-premium cable swearing and nudity. granted, they rarely qualify for the v-chip big 4:nudity, language, violence, and adult content, but they always fill at least 3. now, i said that i stayed up to watch these shows, but i missed the end of nip tuck because i passed out. so, if anyone can fill me in on the last 15 minutes that would be the shizz. i have found though, that when i pass out during a tv show, 5 am seems to be about 3 hours too early for anything. anyhoo, you probably don't care, and i'm better now that i have coffee, so i will now return to my morning responsibilities.

so i'm sitting here eating a salami and roast beast sandwich...

During today’s blog-searching, I came across the most interesting site. I will not, however, post the link to it here as it will only offend me and many others. None of you will lose. I was actually so bothered by the propaganda I read that I couldn’t help but contact the authors via email, anonymously of course. Well, enough priming, and on to the point:

I had just checked out Steve’s blog for any updates, and as I usually do, I hit the “next blog” button. This sent me to the blog of a God’s Army member, and as I am a curious person, I then hit the link to what I will describe to you as the most tasteless and prejudiced website I have yet to discover. As you can imagine, God’s Army also stands for, Religious Zealots for the Persecution of Non-believers and Babykillers. As the site loads, you are greeted with, how can this be put lightly… a bloody dead fetus; Following which, an article and message board praising a man for the murder of an innocent person. He did this simply because he “turned his back on the Lord his savior” by calling himself pro-choice. In addition, the site preaches a strong stance against murder, and pretty much everything stated in the Bible.

Now, though I may not be spiritual nowadays, I was raised catholic and am familiar with the Bible, religion, priests and their followers. There was nothing else I could do, but send an email. Long and short, the email contained statements about how if Jesus approached a sinner, or person with different beliefs, I’m pretty sure he didn’t just haul off and stone him. And, if these activist groups are so religious, why are they praising the murder of an innocent person? Also, that we have been provided with three documents giving us unalienable rights, freedom from prejudice and persecution. I made mention of the fact that our forefathers came here seeking freedom from said religious persecution and prejudice. Along with the reality that when a protest occurs, the same people preaching against killing and protecting the children from gore, sex, and all other things cut out by the V-chip, are forcing our children to see images of the same bloody fetuses, held in broad daylight on busy street corners.   Yet, these groups are violently against those not on their bandwagon, to the point of what? MURDER!

The email was followed by this reply from one Rev. Donald Spitz. It reads:

“I hope you will turn from your sins and receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and escape the fires of eternal hell. Turning from your sins and giving your life to Jesus Christ is the only way you can escape the fires of hell and receive everlasting life. If you persist in your sins and continue to turn your back on Jesus Christ, you will be lost forever.”

                                                                                   Sincerely,
                                                                                         The Rev. Donald Spitz

Nice. I guess we all lose. Then again, I believe in reincarnation and not Hell. I just hope I don’t come back as a violent pro-lifer on the religious right.
